A Great Gift to Give or Request

Not sure what to get someone this year for the holidays? Why not donate in someone’s name? To acknowledge your gift we send an official letter to the recipient which details our project and the type of gift you purchased for them. Either (A) a direct donation in their name or (B) the number of school children sponsored. We will also send a midyear update to the email addresses you provide which will include photos and stories about the schools and villages where the supplies are delivered.

Other ways you can help.

Your generous donations will help to provide consistent support to over 4,000 children in Bolivia and Namibia. We work directly with community leaders and support their efforts to improve the lives of their people.

Children need school supplies in order to learn effectively. Our research in both Bolivia and Namibia shows a direct link between the quality of schooling and academic resources on literacy, mathematical ability, and scholastic achievement. The simple act of providing school supplies each year will have a direct impact on children’s learning experience.

Other ways you can help One Pencil Project:

  1. Collecting monetary donations in lieu of gifts for your birthday or anniversary.

  2. Organize a school supply drive at your work, community service or Scouts project, or for a Bar Mitzvah / Bar Mitzvah.

  3. Donate in a loved one’s name for a birthday, Christmas, Hanukkah, or other holiday.

  4. School or class project learning about South America, Africa, or global issues.

  5. Teach your kids the importance of giving back, service, and generosity by helping them design their own fundraiser or supply drive.

    What your contributions will support.

Read about some of our current projects to learn how your contributions and donations help. One Pencil Project operates in the United States through 100% volunteer work. That means there is virtually no overhead, and all of the money you donate goes directly to the communities and classrooms. This model makes it possible for us to ensure that everything donors give goes exactly where they want it to go!
