One Pencil Project Harvest Moon Bike Ride at Antelope Island, UT

Sunset on Antelope Island

October 1, 2020 Antelope Island State Park, Utah

Cyclists from around Greater Salt Lake City gathered at stunning Antelope Island State Park to take part in a mountain bike ride to support One Pencil while having some socially-distanced fun. Riders began the 14-mile loop around the island shortly after 6pm, passing a herd of wild bison along the way before taking in a spectacular sunset followed by the rising full Harvest Moon. After finishing the ride, participants enjoyed tacos and post-ride drinks (courtesy of TacoTaco in Salt Lake City). “We wanted to do something fun, memorable, but also low-risk in the age of COVID,” said One Pencil Founder Jason Leiser, himself an avid cyclist. “and a bike ride at Antelope Island under the full moon fit the bill perfectly”

The participants agreed, “a great event for a terrific organization,” said Chris Kanaan. “I hadn’t ridden a mountain bike at night ride before, so I didn’t really know what to expect. It was a pretty amazing experience and one I hope to do again next year.”

Discussion about making the bike ride into an annual event are already in the works. If interested in participating in next years ride or staying updated on all things One Pencil, please sign up for our newsletter or email us at Info@OnePencilProject.org
