School Supplies On The Way!

Providing school supplies to 4,000 students in Africa isn’t as easy as it sounds! An 8 hour time difference, a foreign currency, and local customs are some of the challenges we face when managing the logistics of providing school supplies to students and schools in northern Namibia and Southern Angola…and that’s in a normal year without a global pandemic. We extend a special thank you to Mbeumuna Muhuka and the team at Hizetjitwa Indigenous Peoples Organization (“HIPO”) for their support as they have stepped up in an enormous way and will be picking up 10,000 pens, 15,000 pencils, 4,000 notebooks, 150 reams of copier paper from Namibian based retailer Waltons PTY in Oshakati and delivering them to schools throughout the Kunene region. We also thank Waltons for their service and preferred pricing to ensure that our donations are as impactful as possible.

HIPO is a Namibian non profit that strives to empower indigenous groups to preserve their cultures and values while simultaneously enabling these groups to meet the challenges of contemporary society and improve their living conditions. The group promotes children’s education and also supports local initiatives such as water provision, agricultural projects, road works and healthcare. With so many shared goals, it is easy to appreciate how HIPO and One Pencil make a great partnership.
